Bigsby on SG - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums I found a used SG that already had a B5 installed, and it's still lighter than my '94 LP Standard I don't have any experience on an SG without a Bigsby, so I can't tell you how it might effect the feel and the balance Of course, a B7 would be a little heavier than a B5 But, having said all that, I sure do like my SG w Bigsby
SG61 vs. standard - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums The newer SG Standards (T) don't have the horn tapering or the deeper wider beveling between the horn tip and neck The HP version have retained the wider deeper bevels, and the horn tapering Why they make 2 different body spec's, I don't know, unless some prefer the shallower narrower beveling, and no horn tapering
SG 61 Reissue - Reviews - Gibson Brands Forums Full distortion turns the SG '61 Reissue into a rude monster that will tackle Metal and Punk with a fury In Conclusion, the SG '61 Reissue has the looks and tone of an original with the attitude to back it up It stands side by side with the Les Paul as one of the most versatile guitars Gibson has ever built
SG vs Les Paul Tone - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums The SG is louder acoustically, therefore it will respond to a loud amp with more sustain, similar to an acoustic that is amplified The louder that a guitar is acoustically means its acoustic energy is transferred more efficiently, so sound out will also mean sound in, which will give you volume induced feedback
SG - Vintage vs New - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums that depends alot on your budget and what you are looking for I recently scored a '01 SG Special off ebay in near perfect condition with a new hardshell case shipped for $500 00, thats a great guitar IMO, the inlays and cosmetic things werent that critical to me so a special worked great for me, I still GAS for a 61 reissue but they are SO expensive and at this time my budget wont allow that
Vintage vs Batwing SG pickguard? - Gibson Brands Forums with the Batwing, really It too, is "Iconic" with SG's As a lot of you know, by now, I Did have a problem, with Gibson reducing the amount of beveling, and not tapering the horns, for (way too many) YEARS! SO GLAD, they've started doing a much better job of both, lately! The current SG Standard, and "Original" are just Awesome!!
Which pots should I get? - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums The jack will run $3 99 and the switch $31 99 from switchcraft Don’t buy the switch from anyone else unless you can hold the package in your hand and see the name switch craft on it, and only then if you can score it for less than $30 For your SG, the 90 degree switch is the one to get
Whammy Bar?? - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums I agree with SG fan 420 on this one I'd only put a vibrato arm on my epi g400 if i could find the 68 sg lyre vibrato in left handed And those are hard to come by A whammy bar on a SG would probably be a disaster, even though it's been done The SG is very thin, and a strat type tremolo wouldn't fit because the bridge would be too long
Large Headstock - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums They're all recent "Reissues " The top one ('61 SG "Satin" reissue), is a 2012, all the other's (Kirk Douglas SG Custom, SG "Original," and '61 Les Paul Tribute), are all 2013, models All have period correct beveling, and horn tapering, as well All have had bone nuts put in, at time of purchase, to replace the stock "Corian" versions CB
Opinions on Raw Power? - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums why the **** would u buy these stupid shams of real gibsons when for just another measly dollar who could get the beautiful sg classic with p90s now thats a real sg Well, I would have liked to see a maple neck on a mahogany body but this is a "real" Gibson and from the sound of it a far better made guitar than the faded specials
