Terry Williams kit in 1985 | Drummerworld Forum There was an article on Terry Williams in Modern Drummer May 1986 (search for pdf on google), but they don't go into tom sizes A couple of years back (2022), this very forum had a thread on Terry Williams tom sizes:
Drummer Terry Williams playing with Dire Straits - nice drumming! But tangentially, anyone know the deal with Terry Williams being replaced by Omar Hakim on 'Brothers in Arms'? I'd read that Williams actually tracked drums for the full album (those are his tom rolls at the beginning of 'Money for Nothing'), but the producer deemed the tracks inferior and brought in Hakim to do the final drum parts
Terry Williams kit in 1985 | Page 3 | Drummerworld Forum I wasn't arguing with your Copeland theory I just said for me it was Porcaro who was the biggest influence I doubt Terry Williams was influenced by Stewart Copeland My other point is that - having been hired by Mark and basically living in his pocket for over a year, I don't think he cared what drums or cymbals people played
Dire Straits. . . . | Drummerworld Forum I like Terry Williams as well but I think that Pick Withers was a better match for Dire Straits They weren't your typical rock band They were melodic and subtle which demands a much higher level of musicality
Drummer from Dire Straits | Drummerworld Forum That was Terry Williams As it happens, Dire Straits were in the vicinity at the time Live Aid was staged at the old Wembley stadium on July 13th 1985 which was during the Brothers In Arms tour At that time Dire Straits were at the tail end of playing 13 consecutive shows at Wembley arena
Pick Withers | Drummerworld Forum Pick left just before the love over gold, Im pretty sure thats terry williams in the vidio, but its defo not pick I love dire straits got all there albums, and have to say that after pick left they changed dramatically I loved picks style and the way his drum parts flowed He never sounded out of control
