ORCHIDEE – Website of ORCHIDEE, Vegetation Model This is the official website of ORCHIDEE (Organising Carbon and Hydrology In Dynamic Ecosystems) – the land surface model of the Institut Pierre Simon Laplace (IPSL) earth system model (currently IPSL-CM5)
About ORCHIDEE – ORCHIDEE ORCHIDEE is the land surface model of the IPSL (Institut Pierre Simon Laplace) Earth System Model Hence, by conception, the ORCHIDEE model can be run coupled to a global circulation model ( Fig 1a )
Functionality – ORCHIDEE - Institut Pierre Simon Laplace Main ORCHIDEE version The ‘trunk’ version of ORCHIDEE: solves the water-energy-carbon budget at a half hour time step; represents the ecosystem in terms of a range of Plant Functional Types; represents vegetation with a big leaf approach; uses precipitation, air temperature, wind, solar radiation, humidity and atmospheric CO 2 as forcing data
Strategic Plan – ORCHIDEE The ORCHIDEE-project aims at developing the land surface model ORCHIDEE to provide a community tool Driven by the open science principles, reference versions of the ORCHIDEE-code are shared following open-access and open-source principles
Dynamic Global Vegetation Model ORCHIDEE " The ERA-Interim rainfall forcing ORCHIDEE is rather good " The general annual cycle is rather well captured " The amplitude of the response to the rainfall events is more spiked in SMOS than the 0-5cm layer in ORCHIDEE
The ORCHIDEE team The ORCHIDEE project is dedicated to the development of the global Land Surface Model (LSM) ORCHIDEE and its use for a wide range of applications (from land surface processes to climate studies)
Publications – ORCHIDEE A multi-level canopy radiative transfer scheme for ORCHIDEE (SVN r2566), based on a domain-averaged structure factor Geosci Model Dev Discuss , 2016
About the ORCHIDEE project team – ORCHIDEE The ORCHIDEE-project aims to make the ORCHIDEE-model a globally recognized and leading LSM able to address scientific and societal challenges regarding the description and understanding of physical, hydrological, biogeochemical and biophysical processes and their interactions as well as major human-induced perturbations, underlying past
About the ORCHIDEE project team – ORCHIDEE - Institut Pierre Simon . . . The Orchidee project was established across several laboratories and it is dedicated to development of the global Land Surface Model (LSM) ORCHIDEE and its use for a wide range of applications from land surface processes to climate studies
