Hats - The Fedora Lounge Everything from fedoras to five panel caps If a guy doesn't have a lid, he is not worth talking about
Akubra vs Jacaru hat - The Fedora Lounge Black leather hats are either boxed-n-buried, or gone, but I still have this, from the Winfield Cover Company, that I purchased back around 1990: The conch band is not original to the hat, although it was purchased the same day The brim shape, pinches, dents, and patina developed over time
List of Custom, made-to-order, Fur Felt Fedora hatmakers and hatters Hopefully this isn't redundant, but I've done some looking around on the site and for some reason failed to find a 'definitive' list of custom, bespoke fur felt Fedora hatmakers There is some crossover with "Western" hatters, but for this list, I'll try and stick to the ones that make fedoras
An Intro to Hat Terminology - The Fedora Lounge For those of you new to hats, here's a brief intro to terms and styles For the sake of simplicity and easy reading, a lot of the finer points have been omitted, but this will at least get you started This is in the guides section for reference, but to post in this thread, see the copy here

German Austrian Hutmachers - The Fedora Lounge These are folklore hats, of course, and it's hard to say how much they're even standardised rather than "authentic" Some seem just to make loans of folkloristic elements Otherwise, German and Austrian hats are and were probably pretty much the same as French, British or American hats, no?
Look for the Union Label - The Fedora Lounge Interesting that the letter references woven hats I assume the bodies for these hats did not originate in union shops or in the United States Do you think that Young Hat Company was the first granted permission to display the union label on any hat, or does this refer to straw hats made from imported bodies? Here is the pre-1934 label on an optimo blocked Panama that I own
Biltmore - The Fedora Lounge Biltmore makes some nice hats I have 6 Biltmore hats, including 2 Miller Baldwin Fedora's that are made by Biltmor (2 Biltomre Jazz, 1 Stingy Telescope and One Royal Telescope Porkpie) The two Miller Baldwin's are my favorites with the classic C Crown fedora look and customizable brim sizes from the seller All in all, they are great hats
