compression test - Hyundai Genesis Forum Well, one, make sure you have even cranks per cylinder, and at least 5 of them Two, if your engine is cold, you will be ~15psi lower than when up to temp, unless you have forged internals in which case it will likely be a bit higher of a loss If you notice a large (>15psi) increase in psi AFTER adding oil than you have piston ring issues Oil isn't nessisary for a normal compression test
