HMS Beagle 1 60 | Page 5 | Ships of Scale I am disappointed with the OcOre's HMS Beagle kit regarding the degree of accuracy The kit's scale is 1:60, but parts of the ship are too small for humans of that scale For instance, the four doors in the aft section are 22 x 13mm That is, 1320mm (4' 4") high and 780mm (2' 6 7") wide The cabin interior height is 23 5mm i e , 1410mm (4' 7 5")
HMS Beagle - Build Log #3 - Charlie K | Ships of Scale This is my first wood kit model and my first SOS Build log I have thoroughly enjoyed building the HMS Beagle kit from OcCre I have made my mistakes and compromises, but I knew that would be the case on this first project I look forward to applying what I have learn to the next project
HMS Beagle 1 60 | Page 2 | Ships of Scale One argument is that the HMS Beagle was too small and insignificant to warrant a figurehead As I understand it, it was attached to a planned drawing as a suggestion, which was not taken seriously Personally, if I wanted to make a serious replica of the HMS Beagle, I would not incorporate any figurehead
HMS Beagle 1 60 | Ships of Scale There is also: HMS Beagle: Survey Ship Extraordinary (Anatomy of the Ship) by Karl Heinz Marquardt A complete monograph - except as with other AOTS monographs - no adequate full size lines It is a bit costly generally $200 Everything you could possibly want to know and more another book The Voyage of the Beagle: Darwin's Extraordinary Adventure aboard Fitroy's Famous Survey Ship Hardcover
HMS Beagle - Build Log #4 - Final - Charlie K | Ships of Scale 06MAY2025: Today, I finished the HMS Beagle wood kit from OcCree What a great learning experience and wonderful project I made mistakes and had to compromise in a few areas, but I have enjoyed the journey immensely and feel I am more prepared for the next project, the "Amerigo Vespucci"

HMS Beagle 1 60 | Page 4 | Ships of Scale A strange thing is happening to me As I progress into the building of the HMS Beagle, I am growing fond of the boat as a whole My idea of a boat in water, as part of a drastic diorama, has become less appealing Dioramas tend to steal the limelight, in this case, the boat I also want to see
Hms Beagle - Ships of Scale I have the Occre kit Hms Beagle My aim is to build the kit as authentically as possible within the constraints of the models scale Can anybody help with this?
