Whats the deal with overwolf - World of Warcraft Forums Overwolf isn’t big enough or have an offering that would let them just purely be an addon company without having advertisements As they have bought the platform they are now looking to clamp down on other addon updaters that capture information from curseforge and provide a direct download link - from a company PoV this makes sense

What’s so bad about overwolf and why is cursrforge’s . . . - Reddit The overwolf launcher, which is the "official" way to manage and use curseforge hosted mod packs is a very large bad of hot garbage It is riddled with ads and takes up a massive amount of PC resources which if you don't have a beast of a machine can directly impact your game
Overwolf safe? - UI and Macro - World of Warcraft Forums Overwolf bought Curseforge from Twitch, so it’s a legit client Some folks don’t like it because of the ads, or because they threatened to block access from other addon managers (I don’t know if they followed through on that), or because of the in-game overlays Those are legitimate concerns but they don’t make the Overwolf client “malware” IMO
