DMV website is telling me title number does not exist when I try to . . . I had my car inspected Friday and had the same problem - when the mechanic sent the information in, the computer said the car wasn't in the system When I called the DMV, the support person told me that they had been having problems with the computers and that the program would "catch up" once the problems were resolved
NJ DMV no longer accepting birth certificates prior to 1965 (Jersey . . . I just went to my DMV office to renew my drivers license and was told as of May 1, 2012 my NY birth certificate will not be accepted anymore! To be completely safe, you should go to DMV first and obtain a temporary registration You can skip that and have the car inspected and then go to DMV to renew the tag, as long as you don't get pulled over on the way If it were me, I'd take the chance and have it inspected first The odds of being pulled over for an expired plate is remote
