Baths of Diocletian - Rick Steves Travel Forum I've been to both and enjoyed both very much, but if you are looking to prune your list of places to visit, I vote for seeing Caracalla It's more impressive, more memorable, and easier (and quicker) to visit --- Diocletian has lots of rooms and you wander around a lot (so, there's a sense of discovery when you find yet another room, but also a feeling that you're missing parts of the complex)
Baths of Caraccala - Rick Steves Travel Forum Hello, Has anyone been to the Baths of Caracala? Did you enjoy? Can tickets be purchased when you arrive? What is best way to get there? Thank you, Doreen
Terme di Caracalla (Baths or Caracalla), Rome tickets I am also having difficulties seeing tickets for Terme di Caracalla past April 30 CoopCulture does not show any tickets after April 30 I am wondering if the Baths have also canceled CoopCulture as their ticket agent and are will be using CNS (as of date?) Does anyone know how to buy tickets for the Baths? Thank you for any help Cathie
Best way to travel the Appian Way from Trastevere? We made a long-but-great day as we did one of the catacombs (S Sebastiano), Capo di Bove, Circus of Maxentius, and Church of Domine Quo Vadis on the Appia, and then cut over to Baths of Caracalla, Basilica di Santo Stefano Rotondo, Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano and Basilica San Clemente before collapsing at the nearest bar
Best Roman Catacombs? Is the Appian Way a Worthwhile Half Day? Still, San Clemente is really quite amazing The church itself has some beautiful frescoes, but what lies beneath is fascinating And yes, I found a close-up view of Terme di Caracalla to be very worthwhile So much to see, Rome is worth more time than most people have!
Eleven days in Rome - Rick Steves Travel Forum This was probably my biggest walking day From there I walked to the Baths of Caracalla Also had to wait in line here There was some kind of art exhibit inside And this was the day I started to realize that I like to see ancient things unspoiled by modern things From here I walked up to Aventine Hill and saw a few of the churches there
Biking or hiking the Appian Way - Rick Steves Travel Forum Head north on that to the Baths of Caracalla, Basilica of San Giovanni, Santo Stefano in Rotondo, and or San Clemente (we did all of them) Find a cafe near the Colosseum, pull up a chair and collapse (we did that too ) This would be a long day but with an early start, water and snacks packed along, a really fun one
Baths at Baden Baden - Rick Steves Travel Forum My wife and I want to go to one of the baths at Baden Baden and are not sure which is the best Both Caracalla and Friedrichsbad both look appealing
