Best Clock oil - NAWCC Forums What would be the best clock oil to use to oil a Vincenti movement? I've got synthetic 5w30 for the mainsprings as recommended on this forum, but am unsure what to use for the rest of the movement?
Recommended oil (Yes, I looked around, didnt find a thread on this . . . Mobil-1 0W-20 synthetic is pretty good for most American clocks I like Nye 140 clock oil for clocks with smaller pivots Nye 140 is a bit thinner than 0W-20 I sometimes use Nye 140 on the upper train with tiny pivots and 0W-20 on the rest of the train You won’t find universal agreement on this topic
Clock lubrication (Here we go again) | NAWCC Forums Ok But this time simple What is the most common accepted old Gilbert style clock lubricant? How bout good ol 10w40? And what is the best way to apply it? With dropper, spray, old oil can? Say you dont want to totally dissasemble but just have the works out of case still assembled? Thanks! RJ

Which oil for clocks? - NAWCC Forums Oil pens from Merritts works for us on most old clocks we do but I use the 859 to oil new movements On the pens, I smash the needle ends to restrict the output They are handy, quick and clean However, the plastic tubes usually cracks before they are empty I wonder if Regula was paid to stamp the oil recommendation on their movement plates
