Technical - Bendix 2 way vacuum switch | The H. A. M. B. - The Jalopy Journal I salvaged this Bendix 2 way vacuum switch from a old Chevy 2 ton truck It controls the shift for the 2 speed rear axle It's cable operated with a knob on the dash It has a number in the housing 377265 any info on it would be useful Years made, model number, applications Thank you
Technical 49-54 Chevy Spindles Brakes - The Jalopy Journal The truck bendix brakes from 51-59 fit on the earlier solid axle car spindles, with some adapting for different size bolts, etc The 51-54 car hubs will replace the 51-59 truck six lug hubs easily There was a change in inner bearing ID somewhere between the early 30s and the 50s, so you have to make sure the bearing matches the spindle you are
Can You Reverse A Starter Motors Polarity? | The H. A. M. B. The bendix drive will be the problem child as it free willies the direction you need it to turn Have you checked into a starter from motorcycle and see if you can jury rig it? Small, but will turn over that "powerful" B S you have
Technical Starter motor keeps kicking out - The Jalopy Journal ^^ Right It actually started yesterday from dead cold and ran for 15-20 seconds but I didn't leave the choke on long enough and it died Then the problem started The engine fires enough to spin faster than the starter, which kicks out the bendix as it should
Ford 390 (FE) starter question | The H. A. M. B. - The Jalopy Journal If that block was supposed to have a plate and it's not installed, you will never get the starter to engage properly; also, the earlier flexplates were just a bit smaller and had fewer teeth to accomodate the long starter drives found on the earlier models The newer "bendix" style starter flywheels have more teeth (83 I think)
Technical - SBC starter | The H. A. M. B. - The Jalopy Journal So you need to pull the solenoid off, and then manually pull back on the plunger to force the bendix gear into the flywheel Then use a 1 8" allen wrench and slide the short part of the allen in between the bottom where the bendix and ring gear intersect If the gap is correct the allen wrench should slip in there easily
Ford 9inch Brakes - how many different types | The H. A. M. B. best best would be to start a list of all the applications that had 9 inch rears then cross the PN to the specs in a Bendix catalog, etc I've got the bendix catalog if someone wants to compile an application list
Technical - 58 apache foot starter | The H. A. M. B. - The Jalopy Journal One more vote for starter drive Bendix but I would look at the ring gear Also make sure that the linkage on the starter isn't binding up The foot stomp six cylinder starter doesn't have a solenoid and relies on your foot pushing the pedal to move the starter drive View attachment 3834621 Photo borrowed from Jim Carter's site
MT Car Products brake parts | The H. A. M. B. - The Jalopy Journal The Bendix will install on the rears with no modifications 37-38-39 drums are all the same and can be used with hydraulics 36 REAR drums can be used with hydraulics 36 FRONT drums are offset inward 1" so are not compatible with either Ford Merc brakes or the new repro Bendix brakes Original "deep" Lincoln Bendix
