BaseCamp vs. Mapsource - Adventure Rider A lot of new BaseCamp features are not included in MapSource (decent printing support, reading maps from devices, 3D view, Birdseye Imagery, geo-tagging of pictures) Basecamp has at least one major advantage over Mapsource and that's that you don't need the actual maps on your computer
Garmin Zumo Basecamp - What maps do you use? - Adventure Rider I've downloaded gpx files for the IDBDR and can see them in Basecamp, but can't upload to my XT Am thinking I have to buy maps from Garmin for Basecamp to then be able to do that? Am wading through the big XT thread on here but its 200+ pages, so slow going I'd like to just use Basecamp and the XT for all route planning and capture if possible
BaseCamp: Convert Via Points to Shaping Points? - Adventure Rider The Montana does not support Shaping Points in a Route It does support Via Points (50) in a Route If you create a route in BaseCamp with Shaping Points those will be changed to Via Points on the Montana If you have more than 50 the Route will be truncated at the 50th Point
Garmin zumo xt isnt recognized on basecamp | Adventure Rider My other Garmin GPS works fine and is "seen" by my Mac in Finder, connects on Garmin Express, and is seen on Basecamp I use the Garmin provided USB and an Apple USB to my MacBook Air My new Zumo XT is connected to Garmin Express and must be connected in some way to Basecamp because Basecamp downloaded the maps from the XT
Basecamp Loads Maps Very Slow - Adventure Rider When in basecamp, maps load very slow by sections and going from one map (say a 24K to 100K) to another or changing scale can take a while to catch up Given the system seems to work well for me in everything else I do, I hate to buy a new system or totally rebuild what I have now
basecamp - wont display kmz overlay - Adventure Rider Basecamp does not display that kmz Thought it might be a file size limit like a lot of garmins have trouble with so I did it in Google earth (similar to the video) and imported that to basecamp Same results with either method of georeferencing Basecamp does not display the kmz at all It is listed n the database, but "show on map" does
OSM Install to Basecamp - Adventure Rider Download the area desired, unzip to a folder on your computer, run the installation batch file that tells Basecamp where to find it Running MapInstall either by itself or from Basecamp>Maps>Install Maps will transfer it to your Garmin via USB
Unlocking Maps in Basecamp - Adventure Rider When I start Basecamp after that it immediately tells me the newly installed map is locked I guess I don't understand why that is I have lifetime maps on my device If I connect my GPS to my computer, it recognizes it and the map that is installed So under Maps in Basecamp I have two entries for the same map
Is it just me or is Garmin Basecamp terrible? | Adventure Rider I have to add to this I upgraded my machine about 8 moths back I installed Mapsource and Basecamp I removed the Mapsource icon to 'force' me to use and learn Basecamp I played with it a few times, and didn't think any more of it This morning I was looking at doing a little more planning for a cross country trip I am taking next week
