Amsoil - Worth it? | BobIsTheOilGuy Amsoil, Shaeffers and T6 are all very capable fluids But, depending upon individual application of fluid and equipment, there may or may not be a clear "winner" above the others The real question is whether, in your specific situation, is a premium lube worth the additional cost, relative to the performance it can provide?
Amsoil Multi-Vehicle ATF? ATF+4? Debate settled?! - Bob is the Oil Guy Greetings, I've seen about two threads here talking about whether or not you should use Amsoil's Multi-Vehicle ATF in applications that call for ATF+4 I plan to get a friend a transmission fluid drain and fill this weekend, and want to use Amsoil's Multi-Vehicle ATF as it claims compatibility
Should I use Amsoil Signature or Extended Life I went with Amsoil Signature Series 5W30 HOWEVER, the also installed Lucas Stabilizer against my instructions I watched a couple of videos by "The Motor Oil Geek" who says it merely heavy oil without any additives Am going to talk to them next week about draining and refilling with 5W30
Amsoil Signature Series 0W-20 VOA | BobIsTheOilGuy This is the oil I will be running in my new Honda Pilot, or at least the first few OCIs, when I may switch to 5W-30 SS I'm at 293 miles and already stocked for changing to Amsoil SS 0W-20 at 500 miles I've also ordered two sample bottles from Speediagnostix One for VOA from their lab, and another including particle count for the first oil
Are Amsoil EAO Filters Actually Better? | BobIsTheOilGuy Amsoil EAO filters tout 99% filtration @20microns, but the test done by Ascent Filtration Labs shows Fram XG 99% @15microns For the price, I would hope Amsoil is a better quality filter, but Fram seems to filter down pretty well
Is Amsoil Really Worth The Money? | BobIsTheOilGuy Amsoil is a high-end high-quality synthetic-based line of lubricants; it has many direct and indirect competitors With that in mind, you need to understand that "synthetic" lubricants are much better at longevity of service, but not necessisarily better at protecting your engine
Who manufactures Amsoil oil? | BobIsTheOilGuy AMSOIL's base oils, at least their PAO, I believe comes primarily from XOM Their additives are likely sourced from Lubrizol That doesn't mean that Lubrizol or XOM "makes" AMSOIL's oil, they blend the additives and do their testing in-house There ARE oil labels out there that just resell somebody else's product and do no blending
ATF+4 Choices and Amsoil - BobIsTheOilGuy Amsoil's site shows a comparison of the ATF+4 and Amsoil ATF protection after 100k and a tear down of the transmission Looks good to me What is strange though is that on their product page for the Fuel Efficient ATF which doesn't list ATF+4 as compatible, they show the same tear down info vs ATF+4
Is Amsoil really the best motor oil? | BobIsTheOilGuy Ford modular motors will most likely post excellent UOA on 89 cent Citgo Supergaurd but possibly show higher wear with 0w-30 AMSOIL or higher iron with Mobil 1 yet Pablo's volvo does best on AMSOIL If one wants to extend their drain intervals out past 10,000 miles AMSOIL sure does make a strong case for being the best overall
Amsoil signature series? What’s the scoop and hype? Just for the record, the original Amsoil products were composed of majority ester base oils with an appropriate additive pack formulated by Hatco The last presentation Al made in Kansas stressed majority PAO base oil formulations assisted by esters as co-bases, because of the high cost of esters
