What, exactly, is angle of repose, and where is it in this image? Clearly, the alluvial fan has a very shallow angle to it, not to mention the much steeper alluvial fans to the left However, an intermittent stream has cut erosional channels through it and exposed a much steeper "angle of repose", which, is likely more reflective of the true angle of repose for this material
