To get to your broken laser issue: It sounds like your crystals have come out of alignment and or the laser module is permanently damaged Really, it would be cheaper to purchase a new laser (or replacement module) than to attempt to repair the one you have

These are very cheap pointers that have no spring or other device to hold the focus knob in place It is the nature of a <$10 00 laser pointer I never really tried to fix this as it is common among all of them
