Xcom 2 is a competent enough game that it can satisfy my xcom cravings for years to come what cant be satisfied is my curiosity in exactly where the series was going, and thats something ill simply have to live with at this point i think the best we can hope for with xcom is that it gets yet another reboot in 10 years

- Xcom 2 is way too hard : r XCOM2 - Reddit
XCOM 2 is way way easier than XCOM 1, like at least one difficulty level easier, if not more XCOM 2 on Commander (even with Permanent Dark Events on) is easier than XCOM 1 on Normal, and nothing in XCOM 2 is as hard as XCOM 1's Classic, let alone Impossible

As some one who has only really started playing through the XCOM games in the last 6 months or so, I'd recommend you start with Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within Specifically start your very first play through with just Enemy Unknown and the Slingshot DLC Leave Enemy Within until you've completed it once or are comfortable with the game
