  • Simple Formula for Calculating Tapers | The International Association . . .
    For those with a metal lathe AND are mathematically challenged like me, there's a simple formula for calculating tapers I may be posting the obvious but a couple people have asked me how, so I figured I'd put it here for anyone that might be interested 1 Large Diameter minus Small Diameter = X 2
  • MORSE TAPER SPECIFICATIONS - The International Association of Penturners
    TECHNICAL RESOURCE GUIDE | TAPER DIMENSIONS R8 TAPER SPECIFICATIONS: Taper Gage Small Length BT30Thread Size Diameter Diameter Pitch R8 1 250" 0 949" 4 00" 7 16"-20 MORSE TAPER SPECIFICATIONS: Taper Large Small Length Taper Taper Angle End Diameter End Diameter Foot Inch From Center
  • staved bowl calculations? - The International Association of Penturners
    He will blow your mind 360 divided by 12 will give you angle between the radial joint lines You have to cut the edge of each piece at an angle that is half of that Cut angle = 360 number of pieces 2 This will give you 15 degrees which is the angle you need to cut the pieces
  • Dead center problem - The International Association of Penturners
    You can actually calculate the angular taper of the center: Measure the largest diameter of the center = Dia1 Measure the smallest diameter of the center = Dia2 Measure the distance between the above two measurement points = Lgth Angular taper in degrees = arctan { (Dia1 - Dia2) 2xLgth}
  • Taps and dies drill sizes - The International Association of Penturners
    Make sure your die is facing the right direction too It should start with a taper toward the work Then reverse after threading to cut full depth threads the full length I turn to the stated diameter of the thread even in metals The link to the site above also has a thread calculator that will give you max and min OD for an external thread
  • MT1 to MT2 converter - The International Association of Penturners

  • MT1 to M2 converter or other way around? | The International . . .
    Sep 22, 2021 #2 MT1 is smaller than MT2 So if you have an MT2 headstock (female) then you can use MT1 tooling (male) using a sleeve that has an MT2 male end and MT1 female If your headstock is MT1 then to my knowledge there is no easy way to use MT2 tooling Its easy to make the taper on the headstock smaller, but difficult to make it
  • Morse Taper Dimensions - The International Association of Penturners
    1,860 Location Monroe, Ohio, USA Jan 4, 2010 #1 I had posted this chart in another thread, and thought it deserves a place of it's own where people can be directed if they have lathe taper questions :biggrin:
