All downrigger weights are not equal I can tell you that 10 lb "fish shaped", Shark or even Pancakes blow back less than a 12 lb Tru Track and it's lot easier and quicker to pull up a 10 lb than a 12 lb What's the point of going heavier if it blows back further than a lighter weight with a more aerodynamic shape?

A few years ago while blackmouth fishing a guy had a salmon shark latch onto his flasher while meatlining off of Pt Defiance The guy thought it was a great white at first The shark surfaced and let go of the flasher The cable had enough tension that the flasher flew back and hit either the guy or his boat
