- SRAM High end cassette worth it? : r MTB - Reddit
If you're changing the driver, you can also switch to a microspline driver and run Shimano cassettes with SRAM shifters A new freehub and xt cassette is like the same price as a GX cassette, but closer in weight to x01 It also has smoother shifts You just need a Shimano chain, but if getting a new cassette then should get a new chain anyways
- How significant is the issue with Sram front derailleurs really . . .
Rear derailleur is good, I've preferred SRAM shift logic already (I have it on my gravel bike), I really like the look of the new force crankset, and the SRAM app is much better than the Shimano one in my experience I was resistant to buying a bike with force - but bought a bike on a great black Friday deal and Ultegra Di2 wasn't an option
- What’s not to like about SRAM AXS? : r Velo - Reddit
SRAM started as a follower and a copier, but have matured enough to push the technological boundaries and no longer rely on Shimano to blaze all the standards trails I welcome their innovation as drivetrains really have improved in many ways under their leadership Reply reply enemyofaverage7 • Reply reply More repliesMore replies
- Help me choose GRX SRAM? : r gravelcycling - Reddit
It's a matter of taste Shimano only offer better brakes than SRAM and that is easily rectified by fitting some SwissStop Disc RS pads I much prefer no wiring, easy setup, removable battery and currently better gearing options (until 12 speed Di2 from Shimano appears) Also easy to upgrade to a power meter if you want to go down that route at a later stage The FlatTop chain looks cool and
- Anyone else feel like Sram Transmission is a downgrade?
There are some positives, like more even spacing between gears and a stronger clutch less chainslap However those ends don't justify the means to me I've also been going back and forth with Sram support for over a month and have had multiple bike shops take a look, so it isn't a setup issue If you're thinking about 'upgrading', at least demo a bike with Transmission first Share Sort by

Is possible to run a SRAM red chain on a xx1 group set? Both are 12 speed The only difference I’ve seen is the flat top part on the red chain links
- SRAM Red vs Shimano Ultegra Di2 : r cycling - Reddit
Sram themselves is clearly starting to agree with the introduction of maven brakes but have spend the last decade praising dot I also really dislike their approach to compatibility For example you can throw a shimano chain on pretty much any drivetrain with the same amount of cogs while sram has three different chains standards for 12s alone
- Should I go sram xo1 or shimano xt? : r MTB - Reddit
I went with Shimano even though I like the feel of Sram better because their lower-end components shift far better and last longer than Sram's lower-end stuff (SX and NX) With Shimano you can use a Deore cassette, SLX shifter, and XT or XTR shifter Your wear items are cheaper and easier to replace without sacrificing a huge amount of performance
