Is this a good enough, to prove that Rouleaux is causing the reactions in Gel? What would you recommend to indicate reactions are Rouleaux and not something else?
- Rouleaux in Ortho Gel Testing - PathLabTalk
We are seeing rouleaux fairly frequently that appears in one screen cell and not the other, and in some of the gel panel cells the same way This is in a Ortho IgG gel card ran on a Vision analyzer The Rouleaux is verified in tube under the scope We normally run a PEG tube screen and panel on t
- Rouleaux interference - Transfusion Services - PathLabTalk
It's not uncommon to see rouleaux interference in Gel testing but it's not something we see frequently The crossmatch question is interesting: Technically, the screen is negative for alloantibody reactivity so I think you'd be able to follow your procedure for that result However, with the immediate spin crossmatch, you may have to perform a saline replacement to obtain a "compatible" unit
- Is the full crossmatch valid after saline replacement
Hi all, We have a patient with strong rouleaux and an alloantibody According to our policy, we need to perform a full crossmatch which means the crossmatch is carried from immediate spin, to 37C and to AHG phases Due to the strong rouleaux, a saline replacement technique has to be used during t

Have any other primarily Gel users noticed an increase in Rouleaux in the last 6 months? We have the Provue and do gel manually but have had an increasing need for tube screens because of the pesky rouleaux Rouleaux used to be a rare incovenience but now we are almost seeing one a day Any info
- Rouleaux or cold auto - Transfusion Services - PathLabTalk
We perform our antibody screens at 37C and IAT only (since AABB STD's says methods that detect SIGNIFICANT antibodies) The problem is, that crossmatches are performed at Immediate Spin Cold autos are missed at antibody screening, and the screen is reported as negative When techs crossmatch units,

Hello! Does anyone have a trick for creating a "fake" rouleaux specimen for students' learning purposes? Thanks in advance!
- Letting tube sit to catch rouleaux or cold? - pathlabtalk. com
I would consider it to be looking for Zebras, as Malcom said, to want to see rouleaux or a cold-reactive antibody by letting tubes " sit before looking under the microscope" (slightly adulterated version, my apologies)
