Beckie, There are lots of good restaurants right in Cortona that serve "authentic Italian meals" I dined at a small restaurant just off Piazza della Repubblica in the main part of town, and the thought the food was great Unfortunately I can't remember the name of it The staff at your hotel should be able to provide some good suggestions

You cannot buy bus tickets on the bus (so they they said), but being so close to Repubblica metro stop, I just hopped down the stairs to the machines and back to the bus stop with tickets for our going and returning (as dinner took longer than 100 minutes)
