  • Remo vs. Evans heads | [DFO] Drum Forum
I agree Remo coatings for batter heads don't seem to have much of a life-span I seldom use coated heads, prefer textured heads for snares so have limited experience To my ears, Evans heads seem to fit a more modern sound that emphasizes attack at the expense of resonance i would rather have the resonance, ergo i use mostly Remo heads
  • Drum Head History - [DFO] Drum Forum
The advent of clear drumheads Remo cs Blackdots, Ludwig Silverdots, Evans Red, Blue "Looking Glass" Chrome Gold hydraulic heads, Duraline heads, Ludwig Ensemble, and Rockers, Remo Pinstripes and Fiberskyns
  • What are these drums? | [DFO] Drum Forum

  • Remo Ambassador X vs Vintage Ambassador - [DFO] Drum Forum
I am a long time Aquarian user and I have been dabbling back in the Remo pool lately Does anyone have any experience with the Ambassador X and Vintage Ambassador head models ? Can you explain the differences please ?
  • Remo Tunable practice pad | [DFO] Drum Forum
I got one of the first-generation Remo tunable pads around 1962 – 1963 Unlike today's version the tension hoop was metal and did not have the raised rim that allows you to practice rim shots It consisted of a composite base upon which sat a metal hoop that provided a bearing edge for the drumhead There was a foam rubber disk inside of the metal hoop; the drumhead fit over this bearing
  • Remo Ambassador; clear or or not so clear | [DFO] Drum Forum
Going through them I noticed to my surprise there was a bunch of Remo clear Ambassador heads that were glass clear, not the milky hazy look These are most likely from the 90´s when I had my Brady kit
  • Six inch Bongo head? | [DFO] Drum Forum
Here are some photos showing the depth of the 6" head versus a 6" Remo Black Dot head It looks like there's roughly a 1 2" difference in the depth of the respective collars - 1-1 4" deep, versus 3 4" deep
  • Opinions on Remo Coated P3 tom heads | [DFO] Drum Forum
So for Remo I see they have a coated P3 head (Single ply 10mil coated head with 3mm damping ring) It's a bit thinner than the Evans G12, but it has the damping ring that could provide some high end tonal restraint (Remo's are always a bit pitchy IMO) but not choke the small drums like the coated Evans G2's do On paper it looks like the type of head I am looking for
