The seedling of Red Malaysian from La Verne gives me tasty fruits this year Bought it about 4 years ago from Home Depot because of its beautiful deep reddish purple folliage The tree gave me fruit on the 2nd year in ground, but the fruits were bland 3rd year the fruits were bitter, I wonder if it because it grows next to a papaya tree

It has more of the S Megalanthus flavor profile than the red or purple DF The flesh is also more firm which make it taste exceptional My second Frankies red was harvested when it just turned from Orange to Red and it was much sweeter with a Brix of 18% but it tastes just as sweet if not more so than my purple DF with a Brix of 21%

Dwarf Reds are never a good idea for cold hardiness, a big rule of thumb is to avoid any red skinned banana, any Cavendish banana, and most if not all Plantains Finding edible non-seeded bananas suitable beyond zone 8 is a hard one, really, the best is to just either give it protection during the winter or move it in during the winter

I collected wild Finger Lime seed from Nth NSW, one orange fruited one green fruited I grew those seeds and the fruiting plants were identical to the parent, except slight differences in fruit size ( but not skin and pulp colour )

The small red fruit of the Coyolito Palm is used to make wine, and jam, and also eaten out of hand, although not of the best flavor, in my opinion But my wife really likes this fruit If anyone has experience with this plant, and maybe knows where I can get one in South Florida, please let me know Thanks, Jaime

I fertilise every 3 months or so with slow releasing natural fertilisers and red cow dung as source for Nitrogen Other mangotree;s around here do not flower yet Mine was full of anthracnose and sooty mold when i got him, now that is all gone by copper spraying and full sunshine
