Presets were probably the easiest solution to allow users to re-apply lost changes on additional uses of the character menu as well as to load the same character appearance for a new playthrough But don't take my word for it Especially if someone that knows RaceMenu in and out swings by to leave a definitive answer

In the in-game mod menu, racemenu is loading before SkyUI in the list but I can't get the list to move the order As soon as I click done it moves right back and doesn't change any order

You cannot run both ECE and Racemenu at the same time, so you'll have to pick one I prefer RM for the overlays, sculpt feature and just general compatibility with other stuff If you're trying to make Asian looking characters though, then perhaps some of the morphs from ECE would be better
