I’ve had wierd ass jobs sometimes where i had to use rtv on only one side of a gasket only due to one of the mating surfaces being pitted gouged Permatex rightstuff (thicker black rtv) has been my go to, it dries harder and sticks better to surfaces and i can attest to having a close to 100% success rate with it
