Welcome from Central California Absolutely nothing wrong with a Polytech, though it does have some small issues that are easily fixed I have 3 Assuming that it's in basically new, unmolested shape, here are some things to be aware of in a Polytech: #1 Op rod spring Usually slightly undersized Replace with USGI, or Orion 7 spring

Ones with GI bolts and stocks generally go for around $1000+ in good condition The general run of the mill side stamped polytech on gunbroker usually goes for around $800 + or - $100 or so depending on round count, stock, finish, etc So many factors to decrease or increase the perceived value of a Polytech or Norinco here is a short list

There is a Polytech M1a type rifle at $1000 What parts had to be replaced on these rifles ? I seem to recall complete bolt, gas piston and maybe hammer oprod (those two are a bit foggy in my recall ) A list of parts to replace would help me out in determining if this Polytech is worth messing with

I'm trying to restore a Polytech, but I'm having problems disassembling the gun It isn't like its American made counter parts How do I remove the bolt? Apparently, there is a pin I knock out to remove ther reciever collar that doesn't come out When I remove the pin and the collar I can remove the reciever bolt Any suggestions or tips?

Ive owned many Polytechs Norinco M14s all where excellent rifles I regret selling them, whats not to love , forged receivers, good forged op rods, good barrels, good gas cylinders i changed most of them to USGI bolts, USGI rear sights and and USG , they fit well in USGI fiberglass stock

Thus the need for another heel stamped Polytech M-14 But I'm not going to go overboard and get taken to the cleaners in the process I bought the still new in the box side stamped IDE Poly for under a grand and most of that was paid for in trade goods, in the form of a Dan Wesson Pistol Pack + $250 00 cash boot

I have several Polytech M14s [from what I can find, M305 marked are Canadian-rest of the world] Got my first 2 in '91-'92 I have shot many 1000's of rds in the first 2 and many 100's of rds in the rest I also have had a Springfield Inc rifle also and have a Armscorp with all USGI SA parts Speaking of the Polys here
