Lubriplate 105, or white engine assembly grease, can be used in LU's It was the standard lubricant for this application until the petroleum companies started marketing the hypoid oils for marine applications It won't emulsify with water like hypoid oil, but it is no substitute if your outboards specs call for more modern oil

I have read a lot of posts on grease I have a tube of "all purpose" lubriplate 630 AA I use for pump bearing on a jet drive, would this be ok for gimbal bearing and or other apps?

Personally, since the grease that is 500? is actually less money than the grease that is 400?, I would go for the 500? one It is also Aluminum complex vs lithium which is a better marine grease We actually used to use the Lubriplate grease that you use Switched years ago because the Sta-Lube is carried at more of the stores around where I live

Re: Best Gear Oil for Lower unit Actually, none of the above That motor takes "Outboard Gear GREASE" No longer made, most people use Lubriplate 105 Motor Assembly Grease, available from NAPA stores

Re: grease vs oil The Owner's Manual says "underwater grease" That stuff isn't made any more, so the closest you will find is Lubriplate 105 Usually called engine assembly grease
