  • Garmin vs Jeppesen Revisited WHICH ONE IS BEST AND CHEAPEST?
cheapest is usually garmin Jeppesen is almost always more expensive than Garmin Best - that is a personal opinion Both will do what you need to do obviously Some prefer Jeppesen charts (IFR approach plates) because they are used to it and they are generally easier to read I use foreflight charts dont plan on using the unit for that
  • Which card reader do I need? - Pilots of America
I recently purchased a Piper Cherokee with a Garmin 430w I didn’t receive a card reader writer for the data card Do I need the Garmin device or the Jeppeson skybound reader?
  • Confusing parts on the Jeppesen textbook - Pilots of America
I am learning using the Jeppesen textbook, but some figures are unclear and lack explanations Fig 1: What do the yellow letters and what does that mean and its following digits? Fig 2: What is the meaning of the green and shallow blue downward arrows? Fig 3: What does “LCL” mean? Fig 4: Should
  • Whose Test Prep is Better: ASA, Gleim, or Jeppesen?
Feedback, comment, advice, critic, all welcome! I am not talkin' about if it's part 61 or 141 approved, but from their content, relevance to actural test, or any distiction that outwits each to others
  • Garmin 430W, what databases do I need? | Pilots of America
What I do not understand is why do I need the Garmin Jeppesen? 1 time update $129, subscription $649 That sounds high to me IIRC, my Garmin Nav and obstacle was less than $500 for the year Jeppeson was more expensive As previously recommended, get a one time until you need it for actual, then get an annual subscription
  • Garmin database advice? Garmin vs Jeppesen? 430W and 496
Jeppesen does not code a runway in that case, while often Garmin does Jeppesen does not code most vector SIDs that don't specify a route and usually can't be filed Garmin will code them in their database and if the chart shows fixes or facilities on the chart, they are coded as transitions, even though they are not defined as transitions
  • 430w Data cards - Pilots of America
The orange cards superceded the silver ones (parts for the old version no longer available), and require and updated Skybound programmer from Jeppesen I don't know about the Garmin programmer, but assume it will work with either the silver or orange cards The Garmin data is a whole lot cheaper than Jeppesen
  • Jeppesen vs. Government charts - Pilots of America
I've been using Jeppesen charts for a little while now, after decades of relying on government charts for IFR flying Here is a summary of my observations so far
