Is there an exhaustive list hiding anyplace in my DM's Guide of what is and isn't a humanoid for the purposes of Hold Person? Re: The People vs Larry Flind I would maybe suggest an injury Probably a limp that reduces movement to 15ft (Maybe also shave off some HP) That gives the party something to work with tactically, a Flind making longbow attacks and trying to close is a lot less dangerous then one who immediately gets into melee range

The default Gnoll is the Spotted Gnoll, and what people refer to when they say 'Gnoll' There are also the more discrete Striped Gnolls, and finally the shy and delicate Aardgnolls The fourth type is the Flind, which is a beefier Spotted Gnoll Don't forget "Brown Gnolls"

Flind bar (MM3): These things are quite solid They give you a free disarm attempt with a +2 bonus every time you threaten a critical hit They are also one-handed and have nice numbers for being so at 2d4 damage with 19-20 x2 threat And hey, if you’re ever a flind gnoll for whatever reason, they’re free!
