Everdell's expansions all offer some pretty dramatic transformations of its gameplay To be fair, Everdell is a bit heavier than Wingspan, but Wingspan is already heavy enough that I probably wouldn't bring it out for non-gamers, and with gamers I would just play Everdell instead

Everdell is a game I really enjoy and would generally recommend to people as a "next step" boardgame The things I like most about the game are its general simplicity, engine building, and mostly the way workers are given out In many worker placement games getting an additional worker is a large advantage and is unevenly earned throughout the game which can create an action disparity

Like wingspan, everdell is highly dependent on luck of the draw -- unlike wingspan, most cards aren't super great unless played alongside another very specific card
