The amp I used just so happens to be "Phonitorish" in tonal signature - it's a tube amp, but hardly bloomy Overall the B2 is only slightly warm, more hidden or internally warm than overtly warm, and close to, but not quite as timbrally dense as the Schiit A2 models Any neutralish amp would do really

B2 is less resolving with less deep stage with less precise imaging, neutral with flair (vintage saturation sound at peaks - how I've set it up) By contrast A2 is organic, hard-hitting, and incisive (which I found to be great with the Koss ESP950)

In this case you would use the B2 as the master clock, or “slave” the B2 and the streamer to an external clock, if you have one If your B2 has the Dante input, then you can set it to use its internal clock and have Dante use that clock The streamer source will be “slaved” to the B2 clock That’s how I use mine when I want to be serious

Burl doesn’t offer their latest converters in the B2 bombers You need the fuckin mothership The B2s are good but the tone varies a lot based on how hard you hit their transformers (in the ad) and discrete op amps Normalish, muddy, saturated, saturated in a good way but with some tizz on the drums, washed out inoffensive brightness

There's also bit of that vintage saturation thing going when the signal hits peak levels (I'm betting a uplift in THD as we get near and toward 0dbFS) A bit like the Burl B2 Bomber DAC, but with the Burl's output level turned down a bit In terms of presentation, the Zen DAC V2 reminds me most of the Burl

My response was general and to the query "most delta-sigma" and even then the "softness" (dynamic) I mentioned was in respect to the ESS parts, particularly the prior generation chips which are still used today Keep in mind that I regularly use a DS DAC, the Burl B2, among the G2 and MIB
