- Is this trip worth the price that Tauck demands?
I'm taking the Scandinavia trip in 2025 but I've heard that this trip may not live up to the expectations of a typical Tauck trip

According to a friend who is a 20+ year Tauck TD, what an individual TD makes is complex and based on a number of factors - e g type of contract, years of experience, (negotiable) benefits package, number of tours pledged in a season, type of tours, length of tours, etc , etc , etc Each TD has their own individual contract

Tauck tours are top of the line You have not mentioned a specific tour but the maximum for the land tours in this area are 30 to 40 and of course there is always a chance the tour may not be full Sometimes activities are split into groups 'whisper' hearing devices are often used, I like these because sometimes I can wander off from the group a little and look at things that interest me but

I have been on many Tauck land tours, and a couple of small ship tours, but this will be our first river cruise with them I learned last year that Tauck hired many new tour directors and they tend to be put on the river cruises and small ships first, so they lack experience but it is no excuse

The majority of tours I have taken with Tauck have been in Europe where the hotels have been of a much higher standard There are a number of companies offering a similar itinerary and I would advise any prospective travellers to go with them, it isn't worth paying a premium to travel with Tauck in this area

Generally, Tauck tours have some meals where you all eat together Some where you have a choice of restaurant and choose the time to eat, only very occasionally is there a cash limit, for instance if there is a super expensive item on the menu And some where you are free to eat where and whenever you want at your own expense
