Just found this thread! If you're looking for something easy to pick up and good for the budget, Crayola air dry clay has been really great for me so far, especially as a pick-up-and-go craft My only warning for it is that it doesn't coil well so if you're looking to teach introductory pottery techniques it's probably not what you want, but it's terrific for everything else It takes acrylic

UPDATE: I've contacted Crayola support, inquiring about the color The color Sea Foam Green apparently never existed as a crayon- despite people that grew up in the same time period remembering the color very distinctly

The coloring pages I worked on with Crayola colored pencils have almost completely faded in 5 years I honestly think these are not even good enough for kids I'm pretty sure my Brutfuner or Castle Art pencils hold up better TLDR; A 12-set of Polychromos or Prismacolor pencils is a worthwhile investment just for the lightfastness

It’s also possible that it wasn’t a Crayola crayon If it was really called “Granny’s Soap,” it could have been from a pack of novelty themed crayons from a kids’ TV show, or from an arts and crafts kit, or from a restaurant kids’ meal crayon pack, or a pack of off brand scented crayons, etc, etc
