CGNAT is becoming more and more common in ISPs, and there are two changes I think Plex could make that would open up more options for those who host a Plex server behind a CGNAT The first option is to allow server admins to specify the full URL for remote access on a server, rather than just the port number This would allow server owners to use tunneling providers that only give you a FQDN

Server Version#: 1 41 6 9685 I know this has been asked many times and I’m sorry to ask again My ISP is Starlink so currently remote access is only possible using Plex relay I know there are third-party methods to get around the CGNAT so that using relay isn’t necessary, and without client apps needing to do anything (eg: Cloudflare or ngrok), but what is everyone’s preferred method

My ISP recently implemented CGNAT in my area This caused issues with Double NAT on my network I was told that the solution to the Double NAT was to get a static IP address After setting up my router with the Static IP Address, the Double NAT goes away, but my Plex Server does not grab the correct external IP address It is assigning the Static IP address, as opposed to the public IP address

The CGNAT operates as a secondary router in this case, so I believe this should still work Plex would be connecting as: Actual public IP:ISP-PF to User’s own router User router: ISP-PF forwarded to Plex Local IP:32400 I used to support WISPs and this was a way people would get things like cameras online for remote access

Yes CGNAT, you don’t need it There are a couple ways you can go For myself I requested my ISP to Opt out of CGNAT, secondly is purchase a Static IP which in Australia is $10 monthly I would go down the road of Opt Out as it should be Free Just remember when they switch it off to restart your Fibre connection Box, Router and Server They should be able to do it Live straight away
