Created some new trailer guide-ons yesterday using some basic materials from the local hardware store My main goals for these guide-ons was: Make trailer more visible when there isn't a boat on it (for retrieval) Help hold the stern in place during moderate winds currents when retrieving

Merc's tolerance for the transom allows for variations (See drawing below) These variations cause the alignment between the gimbal housing and the engine to also vary very slightly

Speaking from experience with both, a dually is completely worthless when traction is low I got my dad's crew cab powerstroke stuck in my VERY slightly inclined yard, on wet grass, trying to pull an EMPTY 18' flatbed trailer the truck had to sit until the grass dried up

Re: Aluminum Boat Transom Repair +1 That is a funky set up Thankfully, repairing replacing a transom is a pretty simple job on an aluminum boat (aka "tin boat") You'll need to start by removing all of the hardware holding the old transom in place Don't be surprised if you have to hack, chop, scrape and drill the old bolts and rivets out
