- Is Beckett still the strictest card grading service?
I remember when I was in college (1999-2003) when I got back into collecting (once I had the money to actually buy what I really wanted; complete sets) and I always heard that Beckett (BGS) was much tougher on their grading standards than PSA was (so much so, in fact, that a BGS 9 = PSA 10 and BGS 9 5 = PSA 11; yes I know there's no such thing, but you know what I mean)
- Why do collectors shy away from Vintage BVG graded cards?
Beckett and PSA are the big two Newer Beckett grading is the way to go, for no certain reason and PSA for the vintage stuff for the registry, mainly Both are outstanding companies Beckett doesn't have a couple of 4SC deals going on, thus making registry sets really hard to complete for the sheer lack of being able to afford-ably grade commons

Grading is not (yet) an exact science You sent in a 9 5 and they sent you back a 9 5 If you had multiple experienced people grade that card, you probably would get a slight variation in opinion I would say Beckett did okay on this and you have a great card and got greedy

I have a simple philosophy about grading Grading never has and never will be an exact science Grading is simply an expert opinion

I heard through some YT channel that PSA is being more tough on grading and that 10 are more rare these day than ever I got some PSA 9 and I'm wondering if it worth sending them to Beckett to try to get 9 5 or sending it back to regrade?

Does anyone know of an instance where a BGS 9 5 gem didn’t cross over to a PSA 10 gem? I have a few cards in BGS 9 5 I’d like to cross over to PSA for a 10
- Beckett VS PSA, pluses and minuses of both. .
1) I like the way PSA grades the "NATURAL" o-pee-chee cut 2) Don't like all the different criteria for grading pricing Beckett does this better, flat rate per card per length of time, Value doesn't matter 3) Autograph grades - I like them I have seen some Auto's smudged and some perfect 4) Regrading - I like PSA stance, Beckett has no stance 5) Crossovers - I like PSA 6) 9 5 grades I
