Wondering if we can include Königstein Fortress in our trip to Bastei? Possible? Not really You need to climb down (200m) to Rathen, take the small ferry to the other side of the river, the S1 to Königstein (the town), the bus from the train station up to the parking garage of the fortress, and from there one of these small tourist trains up the castle

Thanks so much for your reply I was only wondering because google map shows that Hrensko is a 38 min drive from Saxon Switzerland park My understanding is that Hrensko is where you start the walk for the Gorges and the Pravcicka gate So I was thinking why I shouldn't be able to visit the Bohemian side after seeing the Bastei bridge

Explore the Bastei, walk down the hill (well-signposted) to Rathen Cross the river by ferry from the tourist bit of Rathen to the railway station (the ferry does NOT accept local transport passes, make sure you have some euros in small change to pay), take the train to Bad Schandau

Bastei Bridge would be great but for my itinerary it would have wrecked our short stay in Dresden I e miss the place you are visiting for a day trip It takes discipline to avoid that but Dresden is a great museum city and that was the choice we made, having only a short time there
