If you get a locking rear end and are careful a 2wd will handle "most" ramp situations I have seen some 2wd owners carry a set of traction mats just in case It really depends on the ramp, how deep you need to launch and the surface conditions I know of some ramps that a 2wd is fine and some where a 4wd is required I have

Re: Boat bouncing on trailer How does you boat ride sit on your trailer? My small trailer has rollers up down the center with bunk boards on either side One of the rollers is near the front, about as far front as it can be and still be under the boat (this is the most forward support contact point)

My side bunks mount with 2" receivers welded to the trailer so positioning of the bunk is set by the amount you slide into the receiver There is a bolt with a welded nut on the receiver that sets it into position I have a similar situation with a thru hull fitting that would hit a bottom bunk

Re: Boat losing power at higher RPM I agree with bond-o, also check your low oil press sesnor wires, i had the same problem and it was loose wires at high RPM's if they are loose the fuel pump will trun off and on, loosing fuel in the carbs (if it is carded)
