The 787 refurbs have been delayed because of engine issues with the aircraft I’m assuming BA does not want to waste money (and supply constrained new seats) on airframes which, once upgraded, then sit in the tarmac for months on end I imagine the 2 remaining 777-200s will be next for Cardiff then it will resume the 787s

These things can be overthought but BA will have wanted to transfer a batch of aircraft across to EF with a decent chunk of life left on them but not very new aircraft as they want Heathrow to take precedence in terms of premium proposition Probably a decision taken at junior level based on tactical criteria More to follow in due course …
