The 968 was nearly dubbed the 944 "S3", set to replace the "S2" variant that Porsche had introduced in 1989 However, Porsche said that 83% of the 944's components were modified or replaced entirely during development stages, so they chose to introduce the variant as a new model, hence the 968 nameplate

968 all the way My opinion would be for a late 94 or 95 just to get the updated 993 seats in lieu of the standard 911 944 seats (stitching pattern is different) I'm on my second 968 and I had 2 944's before my first 968 (1995 M030) 1988 944S and 1991 944S2 Neither was a turbo though, so I can't comment about having a "boost addiction"
