429 and 460 are basically the same thing as far as the 'early' 68-78 engines go 429 was made from 68 to 73, after that everything was a 460 only (except in large commercial trucks with had a "funky" 429 and 370 engines) The difference in cubic inches comes from the crank stroke

460 cubic inches is the DISPLACEMENT (size) of the engine The BORE is the diameter of the cylinders Standard bore for a 460 is 4 360 inches If it's 030" over, its 4 390 060 over is 4 420 080 over is 4 440 Simple math You just had your terms mixed up :wink:
