I have been searching around for info on the old CAT 1693 What are the specs, weaknesses, etc All I know is that it is a predecessor to the 3406 Any info or comments are appreciated Thanks

Like others have said though parts will empty the wallet fast and they are a bit heavy Oh but wait a second service writer at pete just emptied a guys pocket of $28,000 on a ISX that barely does 4 mpg So that old KT doesnt look so bad after all if the weights not a issue My old 1693 is cheaper to run and maintain than my MXS ajunk!

2001 2500 6 speed Truck acts like it running out of fuel let off the pedal for a few seconds then it well take off again then dies Go's then dies, go's then die ,on an on got over 15 psi fuel pressure changed the fuel filter errors code go as follow p 0460, p 1693 ,(fuel gauge don't work)

Been in trucking for many years now I know personally of several KTA butt whoopins up the Grapevine by 3408 cats along with "hot" 1693's also An old trucker we used to run with named James E Gantt out of Lexington, SC AKA as the "Southern Shaker" had a 3408 that could not be out ran

Its supposed to be 425 but im gonna tune it like you said I also found a KW 900 cheap that im buying with a 1693 in it but every one tells me that motor was a dog Its supposed to have been turned to 550 for pullin What should i do or check to make it last longer and and get fair milage but stay around 500 horse Any help would be great!
