Alaska Airlines first flew to Russia starting with a leased 707 that they offered charter flights to Moscow on in 1970 through 1972 In 1991 they started scheduled passenger service to the Russian far east with long range MD-80's

They served the Russian far east from Anchorage If I remember correctly, they flew to Magadan, Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Petroplavosk (sp?), and Khabarovsk, all once or twice a week Must have been something to see the inbound MD -80's from Russia parked at the north terminal in ANC

- How were Alaska Airlines services to Russia in the 1990s!?
Someone mentioned here that Alaska Airlines flew to the Russia Far East in the 1990s What cities did they serve? What was the equipment? I assume they ended it because it was unprofitable I believe this was in the era of Russia opening up to the world after the fall of communism
